Finbar Furey was, for many years, the lead singer and front man for legendary Irish band The Fureys. He’s an accomplished singer songwriter/banjoist/guitarist/flautist and tin whistler, and is hailed as Ireland’s Prince of Pipers, having won every known uillean pipe title, including three All Ireland Championships. Finbar Furey has delighted audiences with his yarns and storytelling across the years, and also appeared in Martin Scorsese’s “Gangs of New York”. A man of great musical passion and a pioneer for the cause of Irish music, Finbar has carved a special place for himself in the world of music and in the hearts of millions of people. “Once When I Was” is Finbar’s fifth solo album and includes a mix of all new Finbar compositions such as “Dark Side Of The World”, along with his take on classics such as Bob Dylan’s ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ and the traditional favourites ‘Dan O’Hara’ & ‘Waltzing Matilda’.
