Product Description

Swingin’ At The Speakeasy features 62 roaring songs from the defining musical era of jazz and swing, bringing together the very memorable sound of the 1920’s and 1930’s to the present day, offering the opportunity for audiences to hear and enjoy the classic hits from this era. This album features greats like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and other great musicians and bands who have all helped to define the era of swing and jazz in the 1920’s and 30’s. The 20’s has become trendy again across the past few years with parties and events becoming the cultural norm and vintage has never felt so current. This will feel even more apparent with Baz Luhrmann’s return to the box office with his interpretation of the prohibition era classic ‘The Great Gatsby’. The DVD will be released late September so timing is perfect. There are quite a number of TV programs broadcast lately set in the period, such as Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries (ABC), Underbelly: Razor (9) Underbelly: Sqizzy (9), and Downton Abbey (7). Swingin’ At The Speakeasy will capitalise on the general buzz of the era at this time, but presenting the authentic music as the antithesis to Luhrmann’s modern take and appealing to an older audience that might remember their parents playing this in their youth as well as a great coffee table and dinner party album, for a cultural, metropolitan younger generation.
