Product Description

A 220 Track Journey Through The World Of Country Music. Country music has become more and more popular with star names like Glen Campbell, Dolly Parton, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Kenny Rogers and Tammy Wynette in our pop charts. All these country stars and many more play a part in The Country Music Story, which features no less than 220 tracks on 8 CDs. The concept traces the history of country music song by song. From the early years to today's country superstars. You may not have known that back in the early days many country songs would become pop standards today - for example You Are My Sunshine, Have You Ever Been Lonely? and Old Shep were old country songs. The first ever great star of country music was Hank Williams in the 1940s. His hits included such standards as Hey Good Looking, Lovesick Blues and Your Cheatin' Heart. So the story goes on to include such country hits as Rose Garden (Lynn Anderson), Rhinestone Cowboy (Glen Campbell), Stand By Your Man (Tammy Wynette), King Of The Road (Roger Miller) and Blanket On The Ground (Billy Jo Spears) among so many others. 220 to be exact - on 8 CDs - and there's a special booklet enclosed to take you through the years on country hits.
